Client
Kershaw Health is a 121-bed Medical Center located in Camden, South Carolina. They provide a wide range of diagnostic, medical, surgical, and emergency services. In order to meet code they needed to update their structured cable infrastructure, so they reached out to ASD® to get the job done right.
Challenge
The structured cable infrastructure at Kershaw Health was dated and needed new supports to pass inspection. Since the active hospital needed to remain operational during these renovations extra precautions needed to be taken to adhere to hospital policies and protect the safety and well-being of the patients.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
- How can the renovation be completed without disrupting the operating hospital?
- What’s the best solution to ensure the hospital is up to code?
- What cable will support their developing infrastructure?
Solution
To comply with the hospital’s policies and restrictions ASD® project managers had to research the ceiling ahead of time, propose the schedule of work, and get it approved before each phase could begin. Once work began they had to ensure the areas were properly marked off with caution tape and barrier walls. Taking these extra precautions helped to protect patients safety and well-being.
Result
The cable infrastructure had to be demoed, pulled, and completely replaced for the hospital to remain compliant with building and safety codes. Now, Kershaw Health has an updated and properly supported cable infrastructure that meets all necessary requirements. The new infrastructure is also equipped to handle their growing and changing technology demands. Kershaw can continue to service its patients for years to come.
